At 16:05 the wallet 0x12c4…5ea1 opened $HERMES upon the chain, gave it the name of a swift god, and within the same minute sold 1.83 ETH of it, taking nothing back in, buying not once. This is the third coin to wear the name Hermes; the others did not die, and this one arrived after them, as if the name itself were thought lucky, or merely convenient to reuse.
What followed is the ordinary shape of such mornings. Sixty-seven buyers came in the next twenty-six minutes, arriving to a price already worn down to a tenth of its peak of $26.2k, now resting near $4.1k. Five hands are recorded plainly: 0xf816…df0c put in 0.40 ETH and drew out 0.17; 0x1f72…bc02 put in 0.26 and drew 0.10; 0x3988…31a9 put in 0.25 and drew 0.14; 0x45ea…d481 put in 0.24 and drew 0.09; only 0x0c1e…a5b3 turned 0.19 into 0.36. Before all of them, at 15:57, 0xe33e…2948 had put in 0.80 ETH, eight minutes ahead of the maker's exit. Of sixty earlier coins that reached this size, thirty two died, at a median age of eight hours from launch; this one is twenty six minutes old.
The archivist records the order of things and leaves the naming of it to those who lost their ETH.
